Service: Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in St. John’s Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 4 – 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg where there will be a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
Clara Jurries was born September 7, 1918, in Armstrong, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rosa (Bigger) Guinn. She was a 1936 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Emmetsburg. Clara was united in marriage to Floyd Jurries on September 30, 1941 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Clara began her career as a nurse’s aide in Oakdale, Iowa. The couple returned to Emmetsburg after nine years, and Clara worked at the Palo Alto County Hospital. She later received her LPN and worked at Medical Associates in Emmetsburg. Clara enjoyed fishing, camping and trips to Arizona. Clara was a very loving person. She opened her home to all the neighborhood children, and she helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. Surviving are two brothers: John Guinn, Jr. of Good Thunder, MN and Dean Guinn of Fort Dodge, IA; four sisters: Phyllis Henkins of Estherville, IA, Leatrice Christensen of Lake City, IA, Viola Morey of Livermore, IA and Annalou Roberts of Macon, MO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers: Lavertis, Cyris, Duaine and Morris Guinn; and a sister, Bertha Pollmeier.
