Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 5 - 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Lakeside Lutheran Home.
John L. Lehmann was born April 4, 1915, on the family farm near Clarion, Iowa. He was the son of George and Sylvia (Rush) Lehmann. John went to country school outside of Blairsburg, IA. On December 26th, 1941, John was united in marriage to Catherine Lande in Estherville, IA. John served in the United States Army for seven years during WWII. He was a first sergeant and sergeant major during that time. His decorations included the Bronze Star and Air Flying Award. He was credited with eight combat missions in WWII. After the military, John and Catherine moved to Emmetsburg, and in 1947, Lehmann’s Dairy came into business. John and Catherine owned the dairy business for over 30 years. After John sold the dairy, he became a real estate salesman with Jolliffe Realty, and he later became a broker on his own. John was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he was very active in the church choir. He served on the Emmetsburg Golf and Country Club and the Lakeside Lutheran Boards. John enjoyed reading, playing golf, watching the History Channel and being with family and friends. He is survived by nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine; sister Ruby; and three brothers: Joseph, Ernest and Norman.

John you were so wonderful to My family through life. If not for you, hard telling how life would have been for us. You had a great heart and My dad was proud to work for you for the many years you employeed him. Up hills and down hills were tough but you made it possible for us as a family.
