Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. | | Visitation: The family will greet friends from 4 - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15th at the funeral home. | | James Dean Thiel was born April 30, 1962 in Estherville, Iowa. He overcame a lot of adversities and received his G.E.D and
bachelors degree. On April 2, 2005, James was united in marriage to Julie Guttau at First United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley.
James worked for RV Central in Sheldon before returning to
Emmetsburg where he was currently employed with Kerber Milling Company and actively farming with his father.
James had numerous hobbies and interests. He enjoyed
farming, going to the races, fishing, boating and just about anything outdoors. He was quite handy and enjoyed working and tinkering with whatever needed fixing. More than anything, James loved his family. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Emmetsburg. James Dean was known affectionately to his family as “Sammy John.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, James Thiel passed away in Fairmont, MN.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie of Emmetsburg; father, Richard Thiel and fiance, Betty Leners of Emmetsburg; three daughters: Jamie Kay Thiel (Brian Susie), Jennifer Ann Thiel, and Jessica Lynn Thiel (Jeremy Kilberg) all of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren: Lily Mae Susie and Ayden Thiel; five sisters:
Jeannie Reinders (Dan) of Havelock, Cindy Gould (Roger) of Ames, IA, Connie Cody (Mark) of Sutherland, IA, Ruth Harlicker (Rob) of Minneapolis, MN, and Sharrie Girres (Tim) of Graettinger; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Betty (Allmon) Guttau of Mondamin, IA; and two brothers-in-law: Craig and Mark Guttau of Mondamin, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Beverly (Knudson) Thiel; an infant sister, Diane Marie Thiel; grandparents: Everett and Violet Knudson and Clarence and Hazel Thiel. |
