Kenny was born June 10, 1937 in Oblong, Illinois, the son of Noris and Gladys (Harding) Shryock. At the age of four, the family moved to Ringsted, Iowa. He attended school in Hoprig and was a 1955 graduate of Ringsted High School. On June 17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Nancy Cooke in Princeton, Missouri. The couple made their home in Graettinger. Kenny worked 13 years for Spies Farm Lands. Since his retirement, Ken had been driving bus for Forest Ridge. Kenny was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. He devoted 12 years as a police reserve and 25 years as a firefighter for the Graettinger Fire Department. He served 30 years on the Graettinger Community Club and Labor Day Committee, and in 2005, he was named the Labor Day Grand Marshall. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping and fishing (especially last years fishing trip to Minnesota.) He also enjoyed wintering in Texas and shelling walnuts in spare time. Most of all, he treasured the time spent with his wife, kids and grandkids. On Friday, June 1, 2007, Kenny passed away at his home in Graettinger.
