| | Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home. | | Ruth Eileen Speers was born September 21, 1919, in Laurens, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Beatrice (Boys) Farlow. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1936. Following her education, Ruth worked for many years at Northwestern Bell in Laurens and Des Moines. She later worked with the American Lung Association and Easter Seals Disability Services.
Ruth was united in marriage to Chuck Lincoln on February 2, 1940. To this union, two daughters were born. Chuck passed away in 1994. Several years later, Ruth was united in marriage to Hal Speers in Rockwell City, Iowa.
Ruth was a member of the “Chat n Stitch Club.” She enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, computer games (especially solitaire) and polka music. Ruth loved spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
On January 8, 2009, Ruth passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. She was 89.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Diane Cejka and husband, Ron of Emmetsburg and Jill Elliott and husband, Geary (Herb) of St. Charles, Iowa; two sisters: Lonnie Kallsen of St. James, MO and Rosie Roewe of Laurens, Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Chuck Lincoln and Hal Spears. |
