Burial is in St. Jacob’s Cemetery, Graettinger. | | Visitation: The family will greet friends from 4 – 7:00 p.m. at the Joyce Funeral Home where there will be a Catholic Daughter’s Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
| | Alice Kathryn Perdue was born February 19, 1915, in Graettinger, IA, the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann (Smith ) Weir. She was a graduate of Graettinger High School.
Alice was united in marriage to Forrest Perdue on June 18, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven, Iowa. The couple made their home in Emmetsburg. Alice taught country school for 13 years. She later worked as a bookkeeper for with Spies Farm Land and the A.S.C.S. office in Emmetsburg. Alice retired in 1978 after nineteen years of service with the A.s.C.S. office.
Alice was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She served as secretary of the Palo Alto County Compensation Board for many years. Alice enjoyed writing letters, visiting with friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are two children: John Perdue of Perry, Iowa and Julie Wilson and husband, Wayne of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren: Tess Bjorkland and husband, Kyle of Bjorklund of Bondurant, Joe Carrigan IS2 USCG of San Angelo, TX and Matt Wilson of Johnson, KS; a brother Ralph Weir of Algona; two sisters-in-law: Helene Weir of Minneapolis, MN and Maureen Weir of Ruthven.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Francis and A.J. (Tiny) Weir; and sister-in-law, Helen Weir

It was amazing and a privilege to all who attended to meet Alice Weir Perdue, the wonderful school teacher who taught my Uncles John and Dick Jackman back in the 1930's at the #4 Walnut Dist. Schoolhouse in Palo Alto Co. I am so grateful to have met her.

We lived in the small house and then moved to the large house. Your mother was a wonderful lady. I recall that everyday she would write a letter to someone. You have blessed to have had your mother for 93 years. I now live in Branson MO.
